On January 31, 2026, Northfield Bancorp, Inc., Woodbridge, New Jersey, and Columbia Financial, Inc., Fair Lawn, New Jersey, entered into a merger agreement pursuant to which Northfield will merge with and into Columbia in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $597 million.
Northfield is the holding company for Northfield Bank and has approximately $5.8 billion in assets. Northfield Bank conducts its operations in New York and New Jersey.
Columbia is the mid-tier holding company for Columbia Bank and has approximately $11.0 billion in assets. Columbia Bank conducts its operations in New Jersey.
