JOHN GORMAN has been actively involved in representing banks, savings institutions and holding companies for more than 20 years, and specializes in mergers and acquisitions, mutual holding companies, mutual-to-stock conversions, corporate and securities law, executive compensation, corporate governance and general bank regulatory matters. His practice also includes representing national and regional investment banking firms.
Mr. Gorman is recognized as one of the nation’s leading bank mergers and acquisitions attorneys. He has overseen and completed more than 100 mergers and acquisitions involving financial institutions during the past decade. He is also one of the nation’s leading experts in mutual holding companies and mutual-to-stock conversions.
Mr. Gorman is a frequent speaker on financial institution issues. He has authored numerous articles on banks and savings institutions that have appeared in The American Banker, SNL ThriftInvestor and Community Banker.Mr. Gorman is a faculty member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He served as a Commissioner on the 2004 Blue Ribbon Commission on Board Leadership.
Prior to entering into private practice, Mr. Gorman was Special Counsel to the Chief Counsel, Corporation Finance Division, Securities and Exchange Commission.
